Evaluation of global left ventricular function assessment of non-fluorescent electromechanical endocardial mapping compared with biplane left ventricular contrast angiography.

چکیده
Background. Little is known about the diagnostic accuracy of global LV function assessment by electromechanical endocardial mapping (EEM). The aim of the present study was to determine the relationship between global left ventricular (LV) function measured by EEM and biplane left ventricular contrast angiography (LVA) after ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).Methods. Thirty-seven patients underwent LVA and EEM during routine coronary angiography four months after primary percutaneous intervention for STEMI. Global LV function parameters were available from both techniques in all patients. LVA was regarded as reference standard.Results. All procedures were carried out without adverse events. Average age was 55+/-10 years and 84% were male. EEM showed an overestimation of end-diastolic volume (EDV) and end-systolic volume (ESV) of 6.5 ml and 25.5 ml, respectively. Correlation (r) was 0.84 (p<0.001) for EDV and 0.74 (p<0.001) for ESV. Average left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) measured by EEM was 17.2% point (+/-11.3% point) lower compared with LVA (r=0.69, p<0.001).Conclusion. Although global functional parameters by EEM correlated well with LVA, the relatively large differences in terms of absolute values for ventricular volumes and LVEF render the two techniques non-interchangeable for global LV-function-data. Doppler-Derived Myocardial Performance Index in Healthy Children in Shiraz
Background: Assessment of myocardial function is essential in heart disease, but in regard to systolic and diastolic functions such evaluation has limitation. Ejection fraction is difficult to assess in abnormally-shaped ventricles, and diastolic inflow velocity pattern may be fused because of tachycardia. Objective: A myocardial performance index (MPI) or Tei index has been developed for adult...
متن کاملNon-contact left ventricular endocardial mapping for cardiac resynchronisation therapy: a "slow conduction" towards the fast solution.
Cardiac resynchronisation therapy can help to improve left ventricular function in patients with heart failure, but only if those regions of myocardium which are mostly compromised by electromechanical desynchronisation can be identified and effectively stimulated.
متن کاملThe echo-transponder electrode catheter: a new method for mapping the left ventricle.
The ability to locate catheter position in the left ventricle with respect to endocardial landmarks might enhance the accuracy of ventricular tachycardia mapping. An echo-transponder system (Telectronics, Inc.) was compared with biplane fluoroscopy for left ventricular endocardial mapping. A 6F electrode catheter was modified with the addition of a piezoelectric crystal 5 mm from the tip. This ...
متن کاملAssessment of regional and global left ventricular function with electromechanical mapping: validation against MRI. A PRECISE substudy
Background Electromechanical mapping (EMM) of the left ventricle (LV) provides voltage and contractility information of the LV (based on linear local shortening, LLS). Although EMM parameters show excellent correlation with viability data by MRI, little information is available regarding performance of EMM for assessment of regional and global LV function. The purposes of our study were: a) to ...
متن کاملEvaluation of strain and strain rate parameters using two-dimensional speckle-tracking echocardiography in patients with coronary artery disease (Research Article)
The study aimed was to measure left ventricular (LV) strain using speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) for assessment of LV function. Eighty-two subjects (mean age 57±9 years) with suspected chest pain underwent two-dimensional (2D)-echocardiography before coronary angiography. Conventional echocardiographic parameters were used for the assessment of LV function. Longitudinal strain and its ...
